 Remnants
|
Laura Peery’s work is inspired by memories of her grandmother’s New Orleans dress shop and the hours she spent in the attic of “College Frocks” where the alterations were made. Experimentation with scraps of fabric, threads, hooks and scissors laid the groundwork for her current fabric-like porcelain constructions. Her whimsical teapots have working lids and glazed interiors, but offer just the possibility of function rather than the promise. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution and is exhibited in galleries throughout the country.
